Mt Hutt Memorial Hall Art Gallery Exhibition – Peter Hartley

Peter is based in the small Canterbury township Rakaia where he and his wife moved to three years ago. He has a background in Retail management and Customer experience design.

These careers have both had strong creative and artistic elements. After retiring Peter found a lot more time and opportunity to focus on these creative and artistic elements through taking up painting. He has participated in 3 exhibitions in the last 12 months and received awards for his work at 2 of them. Taking inspiration from the images of the Hubble and James Webb telescope he creates fantasy space scenes.
He is particularly interested in pushing the boundaries of the different colour combinations found in nature.  Peter creates his pieces by using a combination of fluid art and air brushing. He also enjoys dabbling in the natural world of birds and animals using more traditional painting methods.
