I have painted since I was a teenager working at first in watercolour and oils and then moving to soft pastels. Pastels are my favourite medium but I also use acrylic and watercolour occassionally.
Originally I am from the UK but have been in NZ for the last 26 years. I have held several exhibitions in the Lake District in the UK and in Rotorua when we first moved to NZ. My subjects are mainly wildlife and scenery. There was a period when I didn’t paint as much as I was working full time in the field of environmental education (I have a Masters in Environmental Education).
For the last few years I’ve worked part time and now I am retired. I’d like to say I spend lots of time painting but there have been and still are competing interests – such as building our strawbale house, growing our own food, raising animals, helping out on local environmental projects and getting out into the mountains tramping. Since we have been in Geraldine I have been selling paintings through a local shop.
